12. CONGRESSMAN ASKS FOR DREDGING MEETINGS

Oregon Democratic Congressman David Wu this week asked that a review
of
the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ maintenance dredging plan also include
public meetings. Wu said the meetings are necessary to air concerns
about issues the Corps may not otherwise address.
In a letter sent to Colonel Randall J. Butler, district commander for
the Corps, Wu said he was making the request on behalf of the citizens
of Astoria, Ore., and others who live in the lower Columbia River
estuary.
