Juvenile Salmon/Steelhead Seek Cool Water Refuges When River Heats Up, Feed In Warmer Main Channels

Juvenile salmon and steelhead will seek cool water refuges near incoming tributaries when the mainstem river water heats up during summer months, but they will get more than half and up to 97 percent of their food supply back in the warmer main channels as they move back and forth from one place to cool down and to the other to fill up.
